“You Don’t Have Skills To Be Ghana’s Finance Minister” – Ghanaians blast Ken Ofori Atta for saying unemployed graduates don’t have IT skills

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta has made another public speech that has enraged Ghanaians on social media.

He claims that certain Ghanaian firms are unable to employ graduates from various colleges because they lack the necessary skills especially IT.

“We have about 9 million people in a global economy that is driven by digitization, even though the jobs are in that direction we have less than a thousand graduates with IT-related skills every year from our tertiary universities. What has put the universities to sleep without realizing this major shift in where the world is going?” he observed.

According to the minister, the Ghanaian universities, therefore, must align their training with the industry needs in the face of rising unemployment among the youth.

It’s at the back of this statement from the camp of Ken Ofori Atta that netizens have chastised him accordingly adding that he doesn’t possess the requisite skills to be Ghana’s finance minister.
